Founded by Ruth Bright in 2016, Bright Futures has rapidly gained an exceptional reputation for helping families and schools to navigate the complex legal system of EHC plans, appeals and tribunals.
A message from Ruth
After graduating from Newcastle University in 2011, I went on to work in the education sector - specifically in the area of special educational needs. What attracted me to this particular line of work is my commitment to helping young people get the support they need.
By 2016, I knew that my experience and dedication would be best placed helping families/schools and professionals navigate the maze of EHCPs, which can often feel daunting, frustrating, and overwhelming. This is how Bright Futures started, and since then I have been reminded every single day how important fighting for the right provision for young people is.
Bright Futures quickly moved from my living room to our first little office, and we have since found a home just off Ecclesall Road in the heart of Sheffield. The team has grown from one (just me!) to four, and we have been able to help over 300 families and 50 schools to date.
In late 2017, we began work on an exciting new branch of Bright Futures, with the aim of empowering others to support young people with special educational needs. This came as a direct response to calls from parents, schools, and professionals, looking to expand their knowledge and skills.
In January 2018, we launched the first phase of this: our Bright Futures Go Live! series. We have also launched some new resources for schools and professionals as well as parents!
